JU – Jimma University (Ethiopia)

Jimma University is one of the pioneer public research universities in Ethiopia. The university is composed of six colleges and two Institutes of which the Institute of Health is one of the oldest and largest teaching health institutes in the country and currently composed of three faculties (Medicine, Public Health and Health Sciences). The Jimma University Medical Centre (JUMC), which is part of the Institute of Health, is also one of the biggest medical centres in the country, providing high level diagnostic services by having specialized laboratory facilities and high-level trained health professional in several disciplines. Three departments, involved in the CHILI project, are part of this Institute of Health at JU: Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Department of Population and Family Health – Reproductive Health.
